How To Protect Children From Bugs
March 14, 2016
I recently read an article on the Cornish Guardian about how many children in the South West are unwell and struck down with swine flu symptoms. This poses the question, what can we do to help protect children from catching bugs and other illnesses?
Tips on Protecting Children from Illnesses
All of our advice is not only helpful for protecting your little ones when they're at home, but it is also effective advice for schools as this is generally where viruses and other bugs are passed to one another.
Simple hygiene is the easiest way to stop germs passing, therefore ensure that:
- Children wash their hands when they have used the bathroom, and when they have dirty hands in general. Washing hands is the easiest way to get rid of germs and bugs that we cannot see.
- Toilets are stocked with toilet paper, soap, and disposable hand towels.
- Floors and surfaces are thoroughly cleaned with a disinfectant.
Disinfectants to Protect Children
The best disinfectants that we recommend when it comes to combating something like swine flu, or any other viruses, are the following:
All of these products are disinfectants and are brilliant at cleaning.
How To Kill Bugs With a Disinfectant
Candy kills bacteria as well as neutralising unpleasant odours, leaving a long lasting, fresh fragrance after it has been used. Candy is recommended use in washroom areas, such as; floors, toilets, urinals, drains and cisterns. Candy is also highly effective on waste and rubbish bins, rubbish carts, waste disposal chutes, carpets and entrance matting. Use to freshen air in hotels, night clubs, public houses, conference centres, public rooms and buildings, nursing and retirement homes, airports, departments stores, shops, ships, boats and ferries.
Fresh wild lemon, like Candy, kills 99.999% of bacteria as well as MRSA. It can be used as a daily cleaner and disinfectant, and it also features a pleasant lemon fragrance. Fresh Wild Lemon is the ideal product to disinfect and deodorise; washroom areas, toilets, urinals, floors, drains, rubbish bins, rubbish carts, waste disposal chutes, carpets, entrance matting, sunbeds, sports equipment etc.
Fresh Floral Bouquet is also a daily cleaner and disinfectant. Like Fresh wild lemon, it also kills MRSA and 99.999% of bacteria. It has also been designed for regular use on all hard surfaces to maintain clean and hygienic conditions. Kills 99.999% of bacteria. Tested to BS EN 1276 at a dilution of 1:30 by an independent laboratory. It is ideal to disinfect and refreshen; washroom areas, toilets, urinals, floors, drains, rubbish bins, rubbish carts, waste disposal chutes, carpets, entrance matting, sunbeds, sports equipment etc. It is recommended for a variety of uses in hotels, nightclubs, public houses, conference centres, public rooms and public buildings, nursing homes, retirement homes, airports, department stores, shops, ships, boats and ferries.
All of these products are to be diluted when used, and always use a pair of protective gloves. For cleaning surfaces, dilute an amount of your desired disinfectant into a trigger spray. Spray a cloth with the product, then wipe the surface. Spraying to the cloth means that you are not wasting excess product, compared to spraying the surface.
For cleaning floors, dilute an amount of your desired disinfectant in a bucket with warm water. Then proceed to mop your floor like you normally would.
Protecting Children From Bugs With Disinfectant
It is very important to protect children from bugs like swine flu, and the disinfectants listed above are brilliant at doing just that. Children are not the only vulnerable ones to viruses like swine flu. Elderly people are also susceptible to illnesses therefore the recommended products above would also be effective when cleaning surfaces and floors in care homes or homes in general.
